We are sad to announce that we cannot have SCA archery or thrown weapons (not even darts) at the park.
Families are welcome to drive over to the park’s 3D Archery Range, but we are not making it an official part of our event.
We did get permission for some new Target Sports and we will have ITMC Championships for them.

Lunch is a May Day Picnic! Lunch is a BYO picnic, so please don’t forget your own food!

We will have both Youth Armored Combat, and Youth Rapier Combat (youth authorized adults are welcome to join them and lend a hand) - Don’t forget your gear!

Our All-Ages Arts & Sciences Challenge/display!
Age category break-down: 5 years and under, 6-8years, 9-12years, 13-17years, 18 years+
Bring a project you have made at home and let it get judged in the bean count or put it on display if you don’t want to get judged.


This is a Michigan State Park.


The Recreation Passport is required for all Michigan state parks, trails, historic sites, boat launches, harbors, and more. (one day pass - $7.00)

You may not possess or consume an alcoholic beverage in the Bishop Lake day-use area April 1–Sept. 30 without written authorization of the park manager. Despite the change in law, the use of marijuana in public is still not legal or allowed.

Pets must be kept on a 6-foot leash and must never be left unattended. Please clean up after your animals. No animals on the beach.

It Takes My Child to Raze a Village is an annual event focused on folks of all ages discovering what they like to do in the Society for Creative Anachronism while learning the skills, ideals, and daily life activities of people who lived prior to the 17th Century.
